THIS CLOCK WAS A RESTORATION PROJECT FOR A CLIENT, AND IS NOT FOR SALE.

This clock was in one of Charlotte's finest homes. The owner originally called me to repair her "Chauncey Jerome" clock. When I arrived, I discovered that the original brass movement had been replaced with an electric motor-driven movement. I expressed my dismay that such a nice clock had been compromised by replacement of the original clock movement, and the owner said that she still had the original works, but had been told years ago that the mechanism was beyond repair. She gave me the original movement, and the results can be seen below. Basically, in addition to cleaning and oiling, the mechanism needed all its bushings replaced, along with a new verge, pendulum, weight lines and hands. The "before" and "after" photos tell the tale. The case was not in bad shape; we repaired some minor case veneer damage, and installed a new tablet. The result was a very pretty and valuable clock, which runs perfectly.
