R30

Gensign 8 Day Regulator - Time Only

Description:

This English clock has had a rough life. It originally started out (ca. 1930) as a time clock, but when we purchased it the bottom of the case had been cut off (apparently with a hand saw),so there was no bottom for the case, and the movement was coated with heavy gear lube grease (everywhere). The pendulum bob was dull and unfinished. The back of the case was exterior-grade plywood, spray painted flat black. It was not pretty.

We have cleaned and re-bushed the movement (in June, 2009), and the case has been rebuilt, using solid maple to match the original case materials. The bezel and pendulum bob have been highly polished and gold plated.

The clock is typically heavy English construction, with massive plates and springs (2). The clock keeps perfect time, and runs like a Mack truck, or a Rolls Royce (take your pick).

Actually, the rebuilt clock is quite attractive, and would look very nice in an informal setting. It's tick is very audible, but unobrusive.

Caveats:

This clock isn't what it was. The case is modified and rebuilt from a time clock configuration. The dial is nice, but shows signs of age.
